SOC-123
SOC-123 is The Best Talent Show (TBTS for short), an animated web series created by an anonymous animation group named Irrational Hatred Animation.
SOC-123 stars a cast of eclectic characters, almost all of them anthropomorphic inanimate objects or concepts depicted with simplistic hands and feet. The show is hosted by the enigmatic TV Man, with the help of his incorporeal assistant Windy.
In every episode, each character participates in the Talent Show, which is described as "the most complicated game of Rock Paper Scissors known to man" with "no offense to Rock, Paper, or Scissors". Two contestants are pitted against each other to display their secret Talent. They may be disqualified if their talent is judged as implausible for them to have, e.g. when the character of Paper got disqualified for having "super armor".
SOC-123's anomalous effect is that approximately 1 to 3 days after watching an episode of the show, the viewer (now SOC-123-1) will be driven into a frenzy, participating in irrational and risky behavior such as arguing with other people online about the motivations of the characters depicted in "The Best Talent Show". SOC-123 will then spread in a manner similar to chain mail letters, often through social media posts by instances of SOC-123-1 aiming to make one of the characters a "trending topic". The only known cure is complete removal of SOC-123 from the victim's life, at which point they will revert to normal after a month of withdrawal symptoms. After a year, they will be completely incapable of explaining the thought processes that motivated them.
Episodes are uploaded to YouTube sporadically by anonymous burner accounts. SOC scientists are to search daily for signs of TBTS; if an episode is found, a fraudulent claim of copyright ownership must be filed against the video until it is taken down. To help this case, all claims will be under the name Konami, with the claim that Windy is a character from the Silent Hill franchise.
